Twitter Hacker Arrested
March 28th 2010 13:59
Friendly French hacker Francois Cousteix whose online pseudonym is “Hacker Croll” was arrested earlier this week. Croll is better known for hacking into the Twitter accounts of Barack Obama, Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears. Not much is known about him beside the fact that he is a friendly hacker that didn’t mean any harm. He claims that he is “a nice pirate”.
Croll is 25-years-old, unemployed and lives with his parents. Is this guy psychic? He managed to access personal Twitter accounts by guessing the answers to security questions. He also hacked into peoples’ Facebook and Google accounts just to prove he could do it. That sounds simple enough. Croll’s lawyer argues that the defendant entered a door that was already open. Although, impressive, entering someone’s personal account/entering someone’s house without permission is still an invasion of privacy and illegal.
Hacker extraordinaire is due in court June 24th. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and an approximate $40,000 fine.
