THE US POSTAL SERVICE IS TRYING TO SCREW US
January 29th 2009 19:12
Because of the US’s piss poor economy, we are being screwed…again (this time by the postal service). Instead of dropping mail six days a week, USPS is trying to cut costs by delivering mail five days a week. This may not seem like much, but waiting for something to arrive in the mail already seems to take FOREVER. And when a company says they will deliver something within eight to ten business days (which really means three weeks) the extra day off is going to make snail mail go even slower.
The USPS looks as though they are losing. Since 2002 they have cut 120,000 jobs. They have stopped production of new post offices, frozen employee salaries and are cutting corners by using web conferencing instead of actual travel. “It is clear that the problems we are facing are intensifying,” says John E. Potter the post master-general. “We are doing everything within our power to reduce costs; we know this may not be sufficient to close the widening gulf between revenues and costs.” If congress passes a five-day delivery, it looks as though the general public is S.O.L. This may sound like a petty concern, but to people residing in the USA, it’s a pretty big deal.
