The Sun-Maid Goes Sexy
January 12th 2010 21:22
The Sun-Maid raisin girl gets a new sexy makeover! The original prototype for the Sun-Maid girl was Lorraine Collett Petersen who was discovered drying her hair in her parent’s back yard. After posing for a water colored portrait, Petersen’s likeness has represented Sun-Maid since 1916.
The new CGI face of the brand is sparking controversy. The computer-animated character is skinnier, bustier and looks as if she underwent a few rounds of Botox. Her similarity to Julia Roberts has been commented on as well. I personally feel the Sun-Maid Raisin Girl Goes to Hollywood commercial is a tad bit annoying, but the company wanted to modernize her image (which means she may forever hold a large, juicy, handful of grapes as well). As animalnewyork.com stated: “The image on the Sun-Maid packaging will remain the old, homely looking girl”.
----while, the new CGI image will be used in television and commercial advertisements.
