Lil' Wayne Attends the University of Pheonix Online
April 24th 2009 16:15
This morning after watching Lil’ Wayne’s interview on The View, I was surprised at his calm, collected and dare I say classy behavior displayed. Lil’ Wayne (Dwayne Carter) was born in New Orleans and showed his Southern hospitality and charm on daytime television’s hypercritical cat-fest. I was waiting for one of the four co-hosts to say something insanely stupid, but Elisabeth, Joy, Sherri and Whoopi seemed to keep it together as well. Lil’ Wayne was surprisingly soft spoken, intelligent and charming?
As the interview progressed, Wayne’s nerdy side surfaced revealing that he was a drama geek in school. By the age of eight he was writing lyrics and by the age of twelve he recorded his first album. Wayne appeared very relaxed on The View’s couch. His teensy weensy face scrunched up as he smiled, his eyes squinted behind his geeky-thick Pointdexter glasses. He didn’t appear to be the superstar rapper who sings the lyrics:
“But man I ain't never seen an xxx like hers.
That ----- in my mouth had me loss for words .
Told her to back it up like berp berp,
and I made that xxx jump like jerp jerp.
And that's when she she licked me like a lollipop."
Looks may be deceiving?
Joy Behar pointed out Wayne’s tattoo which says “Misunderstood”, which confirmed my initial reaction to his persona. This man is no gangster, he is a writer, an artist, a drama geek, and surprisingly, a college student enrolled in internet classes at The University of Phoenix Online! He even wears braces….
Though impressed with his interview, I was less impressed with his live performance from his soon to be released ROCK album Rebirth. It seemed queer to me, that his mannerism’s resembled and reminded me of Nirvana’s Dave Ghrohl. His eyes were poppin’ and he was dancing. It was just strange.
Maybe the reason why I liked Wayne’s interview was because he seemed so REAL. He seemed a little bit like me, ghetto on the outside but multifaceted on the inside. No matter how tough we appear on the outside, we all are just big nerds on the inside. What does Lil Wayne's tattoo on his back say?
“Give me the patience that I need
To keep my piece of mind,
And with life's cares, I hope, Dear God,
Some happiness to find.
Give me the courage to face life`s trials
and not from troubles run.
Let me keep this thought in mind.
"Thy Will," not "Mine," be done.”
No misunderstanding there…
