"Celebrity is a mask that eats into the face. As soon as one is aware of being 'somebody', to be watched and listened to with extra interest, input ceases, and the performer goes blind and deaf in his over-animation. One can either see or be seen." ~John Updike

Jeremy Renner and the F Word

March 10th 2010 15:50

I was told that I was slacking on my blog, which is true. It’s been 55 days since my last post, and at 60 days inactive blogs are turned over to new writers. So, in attempts to keep my beloved but neglected Celebrity Darling I’ve decided to write about new Hollywood crush Jeremy Renner. Yes, this is the man from the newly Best Picture Academy Award winning movie The Hurt Locker.

Apparently Renner has a sensitive side. In 2002 he played the difficult role of serial killer Jeffery Dahmer. He says, "It really messed with me for a couple of years, that role. I couldn't go into bars alone. I still really can't. It makes me think about how easy it is to put something in someone's drink and then have your way with them. I mean, oh my gosh. It's just one of those things where someone who has a lot of free time can do a lot of good, or a lot of bad."

Hurt Locker seemed to take a toll on him too. “There was a lot of fighting going on,” the actor admits. “The oppressive heat does something to your brain, and on top of that I was in this bomb suit, and I had explosive diarrhoea, so was I like, ‘Get this thing off me! I’ve got to find a hole somewhere!’ I hate to say it, but it made me a really cranky c***. I wanted to punch a lot of people.” Is renner a sensitive soul or just a cry baby? He continues to explain the difficulties of acting on set, “But to sit down and try to sustain a relationship and talk about — I dunno — ‘What did you do today? Oh, you went to the grocery store and you painted your toenails?’ I mean, I don’t care! I’m sorry, but I don’t give a flying f***! I’m trying to hold it together out here!” Thoughts of his home town? “I wanted to get the f*** out of there.” Thoughts on Hurt Locker , “Not that I wanted any of that shit to f***ing happen — at all. Will I go out and shoot in the desert again for Hurt Locker II? Go f*** yourself. You couldn’t pay me enough money. Even if I wanted to, I just couldn’t — literally couldn’t — do it.”

My analysis: Renner says F**K a lot.
